Hossein Omoumi Ensemble: Music and Song of Persia
The world renowned vocalist and ney (reed flute) player Hossein Omuomi returns to Town Hall with his ensemble of five musicians for an all new program featuring melodic expressions of the beautiful poetry of the immortal Rumi and other Persian poets, along with a celebratory performance of popular music from the classical repertoire. Appearing with Omoumi will be three world music stars Paris-based percussionist Madjid Khaladj, setar and tar player Amir Koushkani from Toronto, Canada, and oud virtuoso Naser Musa of Los Angeles. Joining them is Seattle singer Jessika Kenney, who is gaining increased international recognition for her scintillating Persian vocals.
