The Guggenheim Grotto
"The Guggenheim Grotto is simply mesmerizing the application of old-fashioned discipline to natural musical talent has yielded some of the best music to come along in decades! Mellifluous harmonies, exquisite lyrics, perfect diamonds of songs! Kudos, gentlemen!"

The Guggenheim Grotto, featuring Kevin May(vocals, keyboard) and Mick Lynch (vocals, guitar, ukulele, stompboard), first charmed audiences on the Dublin songwriter circuit, where they played alongside artists like Damien Rice and Glen Hansard. The keen lyrics, spot-on vocal harmonies, and straight-up musicianship on the band's debut album, "Waltzing Alone," won immediate critical acclaim. Their first promotional single, "Told You So," quickly reached No.12 on the Irish National Airplay chart, while the album's opening track "Philosophia" raced to No.1 on the iTunes Folk chart and remained there for weeks. When, two years later, GG released their sophomore album, "Happy the Man" as an iTunes exclusive, it, too, quickly reached the No 1 spot.

Grotto's initial success quickly led to appearances on national television, followed by their 2010 release, "The Universe is Laughing," and U.S. performances at notable music festivals such as West Virginia's Mountain Stage, and tours with, among others, Ani DiFranco, They Might Be Giants, and Ingrid Michaelson.

Their live performances never disappoint. Kevin's cheery and self-effacing banter is grounded by Mick's quiet force. Musically, the two are ideally matched vocally, and Mick's jazz-inflected, sometimes dulcet, sometimes poppy, melodies work gorgeously with Kevin's thoughtful and subtlely seasoned lyrics.

The band maintains a high respect for their work and their audiences, and drawing bits of inspiration from such diverse sources as Leonard Cohen's graffiti or a brother's wanderlust, follow their own true paths with "hearts like tigers chasing tigerness."

With the newly-released fourth album sure to be a major feature, this is the one show you should definitely not miss!
