Pasta 101: Flat Sheet Pasta from Scratch
Ever tried making your own pasta? Had dreams of being the little Italian grandma in the kitchen? It may seem complicated, but in reality homemade pasta is simple and delicious, requiring only a handful of ingredients and a little time to get phenomenal results. People have made pasta at home for centuries - here's YOUR chance to recapture this simple skill so that you can pass it on!
Plan to join us in a home kitchen in Berkeley, near the Oregon Street Berkeley Bowl, on Monday, April 2nd from 7:00 to 9:30pm to jump 'back in time' and prepare to bring a little bit of Italy home with you. In this small and very hands-on workshop, we will learn the process of making flat-sheet pasta step by step, from mixing the foundation ingredients to dropping it into boiling water. We'll taste a bit in order to learn how ingredients as well as rolling techniques affect the finished pasta, discussing the small changes that can be made. And then after getting these basics down, the fun begins! We'll cook some pastas and make various pan sauces, enjoying a lovely snack together after all our hard work.
Price is $25 for current Slow Food members, $30 for nonmembers (a steal!) and the workshop is limited to only 10 attendees. Given the small size and the planning and ingredient purchasing that needs to happen pre-class, please note that this will be non refundable, except through authorization by Seth. Your understanding is appreciated.
This is a great introductory to intermediate class that will give you a fun new skill in the kitchen, reserve your spot today!
