Music of Russia - Seattle
Illumni is at it once again, presenting a concert the likes of which you may not hear again for many years.
For this Spring's show, Illumni has chosen to explore the world of Russian choral music and all that it has to offer. The program starts with a sacred first half, exploring music of the Orthodox tradition, and then in the second half, Illumni explores Russian folks favorites and soldier songs.
Counter Tenors will soar up to High A, and the Basses will drop well below Low "C" to Low G, and perhaps even lower.
Basso Profundo Glenn Miller will join Illumni, performing the stunning Octavist solos from Chesnokov's Opus 40 No. 5 (Do Not Reject Me When I Am Old), and selections Chesnokov's Memorial Service. Opus 39.
Illumni's soloist will light up the second half on soldier songs, and favorites such as Kalinka, and The Song of the Volga Boatmen.
This is a concert you will be sure to enjoy!
