Bellingham City Club Program October 28, 2015
Climate Change, Oil Trains, Bellingham Bay Cleanup and More: A Conversation with Department of Ecology Director Maia Bellon

Join us on Wednesday, October 28th for a presentation on some of the most critical environmental challenges facing us in Bellingham and Whatcom County. Washington State Department of Ecology Director Maia Bellon will address issues such as: climate change, including the Governor's new clean air rule; oil and coal trains; the proposed Gateway Pacific Terminal; water rights and water sufficiency; shellfish and agriculture; and Bellingham Bay cleanup. Following the presentation we'll have a lively Q&A session with Director Bellon.

Maia Bellon: Our speaker has been Ecology Director since being appointed by Governor Jay Inslee in February 2013. Previously she served as deputy and then manager of the Water Resources program for Ecology. For the15 years before that she was an Assistant Attorney General, focusing on complex water law and a broad array of other environmental legal issues.
