Strange Perfumes, Exotic Places Pianist Jason Andrews presents a program of music inspired by the sights, rituals, sounds and scents of exotic settings, featuring works by Joaquin Nin-Culmell, Henri Gil-Marchex, Claude Debussy, and Leopold Godowsky.
Jason Andrews Bio: Jason Andrews, a native of Texas, is frequently heard in solo piano, vocal, and chamber music recitals. Mr. Andrews has performed in many of New York City's noted venues, including Weill Recital Hall, Zankel Hall, Stern Auditorium of Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall and Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center, Radio City Music Hall, Symphony Space, Steinway Hall, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Appel Room at Jazz at Lincoln Center, Trinity Church's Noonday Concerts, the Piano Salon of Yamaha Artist's Services Inc., the Leiderkranz Foundation Recital Hall, the Kosciusko Foundation, the Tenri Cultural Institute, the LeFrak Auditorium of Queens College, Columbia University, Bard College, and Symphony Hall in Boston. He has also played a recital at the Musée Maurice Ravel, Montfort-l'Amaury, France. Mr. Andrews is an often featured artist of the Music at Saint Alban's Recital Series in Staten Island. He has presented many solo and collaborative recitals for the series as well as performing Beethoven's Choral Fantasy for piano, orchestra, and chorus. His most recent performance for Saint Alban's was a program of duets for piano and organ, featuring the 2nd Concerto of Rachmaninov and Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue, with organist Kenneth Hamrick. He also performs quite often for the Concerts at Christ Church Series in Pelham Manor. His most recent performances on this series include the Mozart concerto No. 14 KV 449 in E - flat major, the Britten St. Nicholas Cantata, and Beethoven's Choral Fantasy accompanied by the Sinfonia Celestis ensemble. He will perform again on the 2016 season for Saint Alban's with the Saint Alban's Piano Trio, of which he is the founder, in a program of trios by Ravel and Schubert. In addition to performing, Mr. Andrews teaches at the Caedmon School on Manhattan's East Side, as well maintaining a private studio. He also serves as the pianist for the choral and musical theater programs of the Frank Sinatra School of the Arts in Astoria, Queens.
