Lair of the Minotaur w/ Sweet Cobra, You Will Die, World Eater
Lair of the Minotaur Emerging from the caustic burrows of Chicago comes the monolith of metal called Lair of the Minotaur. Featuring Steven Rathbone and Donald James Barraca from 7000 Dying Rats and Larry Herweg of Pelican, LOTM is crushing and brutial but with a groove. LOTM combines melodic death metal and thrash with sludgy undercurrents of doom metal. The vocal style is diverse; hardcore style yelling/spoken word along with death metal growls and black metal rasps.
Sweet Cobra Sweet Cobra's influences draw from His Hero Is Gone, Black Flag and Unsane to the more rock oriented Helmet and newer rock staples High on Fire. Each of these influences can be heard with variations of others, all delivered heavy-hearted and mad as hell. Rock rhythms mixed with hardcore breakdowns and metal guitars allows this band to defy any mold or predictions.
You Will Die At the core of You Will Die's mantle exists a solid foundation of unrelentingly punishing percussion, meat-n-potatoes style guitar shred, and bass tones that only come up from the swamp because they need the air. As riff begets riff, tempos change on the drop of a dime, and torrents of punishment blare forth from amp and drum. No gimmicks, no vocals, no front-man, no samples, no political posturing, and no keyboards: You Will Die is unapologetically instrumental, unabashedly abrasive, and unmistakably distinct.
World Eater Formed with intent of leading the vanguard of The Harbingers of Mortal Obliteration, and christened with the most fitting moniker (in tribute to the war machine juggernaut known as Bolt Thrower), Worldeater will crush your weak excuse for hardcore and life. Comprised of former and current members of project mayhem units: Black Arrows of Filth and Impurity, Wasteland D.C., Racebannon, YouHateYou, Fog, and Graves of the Endless Fall.
