3 Hilarious Storytellers and Music from Former Guitarist for Woodstock Legend Richie Havens
On Friday Nov. 13, 2015, Out by Ten producer, Susan Seliger, presents three amazing Moth SLAM Champion storytellers and a singer/songwriter/guitarist who toured with Woodstock legend Richie Havens. NEW TIME: Second Friday of the month, 8:00-10:00 PM. Storytellers: Jeff Simmermon, a Moth GrandSlam Champion, is a very funny storyteller and standup who manages to laugh through the pain life throws his way. He has appeared on This American Life, The Moth's podcast, and is the producer of And I Am Not Lying, a variety/burlesque/comedy show at UCB East.
Sandi Marx, a six-time Moth Story SLAM winner, is a retired talent agent and mother of three grown kids who hope and pray they stay out of her stories. She performs all over NYC: at "The Liars Show", "What are you Afraid of? " and at the 92nd street Y with Piper Kerman for "Six Word Memoirs." She can be heard on the Holiday "Risk" podcast, and David Crabb's new podcast "Stories in Session."
Drew Prochaska, a two-time Moth Story SLAM winner from Brooklyn, was the creator of the SPOILER Comedy Film Project, a biannual event showing original films by some of today's top comedy stars. He has been featured on the "RISK!" and "Stories in Session" podcasts. His writing has been regularly featured on the website Running with Scissors by author Augusten Burroughs. His first book of personal essays, Where We Were When We Were Werewolves will be published in 2016.
Musician: Walter Parks spent a decade as the guitarist and sideman for Woodstock legend Richie Havens. He has played Carnegie Hall, Madison Square Garden and the Cannes Film Festival. He composed the theme song for the Discovery Channel's "American Guns" series. And he now leads his own southern country/blues band, Swamp Cabbage.
