IPRC Online Creative Writing & Publishing Class
This unique class will contain six-weeks of creative writing instruction followed by two weeks of digital publishing/e-book instruction.
The course begins with an intensive online writing workshop, with in-depth instruction on the elements of craft. The online format gives you the freedom to join a vibrant community of writers, no matter your schedule or where you live. Expect to workshop one story, plus write short assignments that may generate future material. You'll receive instructor and peer critiques; lectures and interactive discussions are also included. This is a supportive environment where you will receive careful guidance and productive feedback. It's an opportunity to improve your writing and to learn more about the way fiction works. Class is open to novice and experienced writers--come ready to write!
Once you've honed your writing craft, it's time to get your work out in the world via E-publishing. This section of the course will lay the groundwork on the different e-book formats and which reading devices support them. While many online retailers offer free e-book conversion for text documents and PDFs, the resulting files can be clunky and poorly designed. You'll learn how to produce your own e-book files using open source software and get your work into digital bookstores.
