Kaleidoscope In Concert
Fresh from celebrating the 30th Anniversary Season, Kaleidoscope in Concert comes to the Broadway Performance Hall Mother's Day weekend, May 11, 12, and 13. This rich and diverse performance features new works by local and nationally recognized choreographers. Marlayna Locklear, from Dayton Contemporary Dance Company, created a challenging and contemporary piece for the dancers entitled The 6th Hour. Charlene Curtiss and Joanne Petroff, co-directors of integrated dance company Light Motion, showcase the collaboration of Kaleidoscope dancers and young dancers in wheelchairs. Kaleidoscope graduates, Soleil Chappelle and Emily Delanty, premiere works that highlight the physical exuberance and expressive qualities of the company. Revivals include the work of Anna Mansbridge, Krista Gemmel Harris, Tom Truss and Jesse Jaramillo, and Anne Green Gilbert. Kaleidoscope in Concert celebrates the joy of dance with an exceptional balance of youth and professionalism. Audiences of all ages will enjoy engaging choreography performed with Kaleidoscope's unique blend of talent, enthusiasm, and soul! Kaleidoscope Dance Company, one of Seattle's oldest modern dance companies, is made up of young people ages 7-16. This past fall, Artistic Director Anne Green Gilbert was honored by the National Dance Education Organization with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award for her work in the field of dance.
