MIKEL URDANGARIN with Elizabeth Macklin
Thoughout this year Urdangarin has done over thirty soloconcerts around the Basque Country and elsewhere in Europe, presenting new,acousticarrangements of songs from the nearly two decades of his artisticcareer, along with new work. "Mikel Urdangarin 2015," recorded live, will beoutthis November.
Tonight he presents a sampling from it, joined by poetElizabeth Macklin, translator of several of Urdangarin's multimedia projects(2003's "Zaharregia, txikiegia agian / Too Old, Too Small, Maybe"among them),who will read new work originating in his Basque language anduniverse.Mikel Urdangarin's many albums include, most recently,"Azula" (Blue; 2012) and the two-CD "Zuzenean 2010/12/30" (Live 2010/12/30).Hismost recent multimedia project was "Jainko txiki eta jostalari hura" (ThatTiny Playful God).
Elizabeth Macklin is author of "A Woman Kneeling in theBig City" and "You've Just Been Told," and translator, most recently, of KirmenUribe's"BilbaoNew YorkBilbao."
