Water Music: Toward the Sea
The Chamber Music Society of Central Virginia's "Water Music" festival comes to a majestic conclusion with "Toward the Sea," a concert of chamber music inspired by the oceans. Performing are six renowned musicians from Europe, Canada and the USA. Musical selections include Mendelssohn's "Hebrides" overture, the violin sonata in G major by Brahms, Donizetti's overture to "Alina," and George Crumb's "Voice of the Whale."
"Water Music" is one of the chamber music festivals CMSCVA presents annually, this time programmed around the remarkable and evocative music inspired by water. The series brings together ten celebrated musicians - international competition winners, favorite performers from Richmond's classical music scene, and world-class soloists - to bring this thrilling music to life in concerts in our modernist venue at the First Unitarian Church, and the Gellman Room of the Main Public Library in downtown Richmond.
