3 Still Standing
For one brief moment in comedy history, they were rock stars. They shared the stage with the likes of Robin Williams and Dana Carvey. Together they shared youthful dreams of fame - and all that went with that: booze, cocaine, and a lot of bad 80s music. Their friendships survived, but the spotlight did not.
"We were hit by a comedic recession," says Robin.
For comedians like Robin and Dana, there were movies and television. But Will Durst, Larry "Bubbles" Brown and Johnny Steele were club comics. They were the artists of the small room with the brick wall, with its hecklers, noise and shots of jaegar. Almost overnight, their way of life disappeared. 3 Still Standing is a behind-the-curtain look into the lives and minds of stand-up comedians. It's a mash up of laughter, resilience and the challenge of being an artist in today's increasingly corporate world.
A stellar supporting cast includes Robin Williams, Dana Carvey, Paula Poundstone, Rob Schneider, Bobby Slayton. See this movie! You'll laugh like it's 1984. "Perseverance has never been this hilarious." Toronto Scene
