Old-Time-Radio Adaptation of Shakespeares Macbeth
In honor of Shakespeares birthday month, which is coincidentally the same month (and perhaps, even the same day!) of his death, LBSC is presenting two Shakespeare plays, one dark, one light, representing the yin and yang of Shakespeares April.
We are presenting both as radio plays, in the tradition of the Golden Age of Radio, when classic literature was regularly produced on the air. Famous British stage actors would perform it for the BBC; for example, John Gielgud, Laurence Olivier, Claire Bloom, Alec Guinness, and so on. And Hollywood actors would perform it on American radio; for example Orson Welles, Agnes Moorehead, John and Lionel Barrymore, etc. Each of our radio presentations are about an hour long, and feature Shakespeares text with some brief narration to connect scenes or as stage directions.
The first of our two April radio plays will be Macbeth. Shakespeares dark story of ambition, murder, and the supernatural.
