An Epidemic Play
Director/Playwright: Tristan J. Shuler Assistant Director/Stage Manager: June Peterson Producer: Melora Storm Casting Director: Michelle Siddiqui
An Epidemic Play follows a seemingly lackluster family in a world where "the city" is quarantined for the "infected." Even so, the family seems to fall further into the epidemic themselves, whatever that may be, just as the overprotective mother fights to avoid it. The piece is an extremely sarcastic interpretation of the things taken most seriously in life: disease, domestic ignorance, depression, discrimination, etc. Full of psychological confusion, rapid changes of style, and melodramatic humor, An Epidemic Play is loosely inspired by ideas from Dante's "Inferno" and the downfall of the human race. For "humanity is supervised confusion."

Emerging Artists returns with their one-of-a-kind festival. Visit the theater any evening during this three-week event, and you'll find yourself transported in a number of surprising ways: by a single performer embodying a whole host of characters; by a more experimental theater piece "done differently" that challenges and delights; by a cozy two-person show exploring relationships; or perhaps by a bouncy new musical that will have you humming. Emerging Artists has always been about new works, new talents, new voices. That's never been more evident than now.
