SO YOU WANT TO DIRECT Panel
"So You Wanna Direct?" Join multi-award winning Director Bob Giraldi as he offers insight into an incredible directing career. Whether it's music videos, films, commercials - he's done it all.
One of the original "Mad Men," Giraldi was a creative director at the famous Young & Rubicam Advertising Agency during the advertising creative revolution of the 1960s. He has directed over 4,000 commercials, won hundreds of Clios and other advertising awards, and was named one of "101 Stars Behind 100 Years of Advertising." In 2011, Giraldi was honored with the New York International Film Festival's first ever "Living Legend Award," which recognized him as "a prominent industry luminary whose contributions advanced the advertising industry and made a lasting impact on the overall creative community." Giraldi set the tone for music videos in the early MTV days. His unique visual and musical storytelling ability were first seen in Michael Jackson's "Beat It." Working with other music luminaries such as Pat Benatar, Paul McCartney, Lionel Richie, Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross, Ricky Martin, Hall & Oates and Will Smith, he continued to define the future of the medium with videos like "Say, Say, Say," "Love is a Battlefield," "Running with the Night," "Don't Drive Drunk," "Hello," and "Just The Two of Us." Giraldi's independent films have also garnered numerous awards. His new media division at the School of Visual Arts has created the Out of Hand Festival, an international contest and partnership for content created by students devoted to the art and technology of mobile phones.
