Funky Divas of Gospel - Social No. 11 opens
Opening: Social No. 11 from Arlington!
Returning for their second SJC concert, Funky Divas of Gospel began 20 years ago on the seacoast of New Hampshire and currently is the collaboration of 4 vocalists and 4 piece band. Our purpose is to share great music. The spirit that flows through our songs goes back to the roots of music itself. It is universal and tells stories as old as time. We are performers who love entertaining audiences. Our music is roots music. It is harmony. It is hard rockin' and reflective. It is toe tapping, it is hand clapping, It can, and does, move audiences to their feet and into the aisles to dance.
Funky Divas performances are suitable for all ages and for almost any situation or venue. We regularly perform in concert halls, music festivals and outdoor events, gospel brunches, corporate functions, benefits, and conferences and church services no matter the denomination. Recently after attending a Funky Divas of Gospel concert, a reporter wrote, "All bluegrass, soul and gospel fans be forewarned: if you miss this funky group, to paraphrase a line in one of their songs, it ain't nobody's fault but yours."
-------------
The Social No 11 is a roots rock, acoustic, country, alternate reality, we'll-try-anything porch concert. Led by Arlington's David Whitford, SN11 are at times rocking, at times rolling, but never very formal, there's something for everyone, except people from Gilbert Plains, Manitoba. (They know what they did.) The musical guilty parties are Arlington's Jason Donnelly, Shady Hartshorne, Tom Robertson, Jonathan Shapiro, David Whitford, and Todd Bearson, and "token Cantabridgian" James Harvey. Enjoy!
