Los Angeles Pierce College Theatre's 2015-2016 Season opens in October with Christopher Durang's Tony Award-winning Broadway comedy, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike. Performances begin Friday, October 23 and continue through Sunday, November 1 in the Dow Arena Theatre in the newly renovated Pierce Performing Arts Center. Set in present day Bucks County, PA, melancholy brother and sister Vanya and Sonia bicker away in their old family home, whining over their lost dreams. When their sassy, clairvoyant maid, Cassandra, warns of impending dangers, their celebrity sister, Masha, arrives unexpectedly with young, hunky, boyfriend, Spike, followed in by sweet, admiring neighbor, Nina. Soon the family is launched into a madcap weekend of squabbling, lust and broken mugs galore. With frolicsome absurdity, Christopher Durang's Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike deftly blends famous Chekhovian themes with the contemporary challenges of celebrity, family, and middle-age into a deliriously complex comedy. LAPC Theatre's production of Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike will be directed by LAPC Theatre's newest faculty member, Shaheen Vaaz. The cast features David Klane as Vanya, Laurel Moglen as Sonia, Jeanne Sakata as Masha, Dylan Taylor as Spike, Leah Foster as Cassandra and Michelle Hallbauer as Nina. Scenic design is by Frederica Nascimento, costume design by Eileen Gizienski, lighting design by Michael Gend and sound design by Edward Salas. Natasha Wells is the stage manager. Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike opens on Friday, October 23 at 8pm, and continues on Saturday, Oct. 24 at 8pm, Sunday, Oct. 25 at 2pm, Friday, Oct. 30 at 8pm, Saturday, Oct. 31 at 8pm and Sunday, November 1 at 2pm. Tickets are priced at $12 for students, $15 for seniors and $18 for general admission. Free parking is conveniently located in parking lot #6 on the Pierce College campus, adjacent to the Performing Arts Center. LAPC Theatre's 2015-2016 Season also includes George S.
