The Belle of Amherst by William Luce
Clare Squance, of Oxford, brings Emily Dickinson to life in this one-woman show.
Set in Dickenson's Amherst, Massachusetts home from 1830 to 1886, the play makes use of her poetry, diaries, and letters to recollect her encounters with the significant people in her life family, close friends, and acquaintances.
For years, scholars have theorized that Emily Dickinson had some form of mental illness. This play gives Emily a true nonconformist the chance to answer those scholars in person.
