Buffet Flats/ Feast of the Pink Moon
Come to the Buffet Flats-Queering Slow Food Event April 28th!

We cook what we grow, sew what is torn, and reap what we know to come HOME!

April's full moon is known as the Pink Moon, which occurs closest to the Vernal equinox. During the Pink Moon the flowers bloom pink and the fish force their way upstream to spawn while our garden's first sprouts push up from the soil to reveal their fresh green for their Spring debut.

Join us in the heart of the City, the Mission District, at Million Fishes for a feast of fresh Spring bounty and frolicking performances on April 28th, 2012.

We are sewing what is torn, reaping what we know now and harvesting that knowledge with a celebratory dinner-salon of fresh food and wisdom from our local farms and gardens, featuring a stellar line up of artists and performers.

We invite you to join us for this evening of wild cabaret acts, Queer art, food and celebration.

WHERE: Million Fishes Arts Collective, located at 2501 Bryant Street, at the intersection of 23rd and Bryant in the Mission District of San Francisco.

When: April 28th, 6:00-10:00pm

BUFFET FLATS - QUEERING SLOW FOOD SERIES

Buffet Flats is a dinner salon that's part queer cabaret, part cooking show, serving up an exuberant mix of artistic risk and sensual pleasures. Hosted by racially diverse historical Queer personas, we create a warm space to learn about local food, cuisine and ecology while we enjoy a scintillating evening of live music and performance.

At Buffet Flats we are interested in healing the racial divide in the queer community. We are reviving the history of the Pansy Craze and Buffet Flats of the 1920s & 30s to explore these issues and how they influence our communities.

In the intimate setting of San Francisco homes and gardens we re/imagine the creative possibilities to access and grow local food. We share diverse culinary approaches and create safe spaces for a diverse and healthy Queer community.

To read more about the buffet flats origins as well as the Pansy Craze. Please visit BUFFETFLATS.ORG.
