WinterWorks

Original works by choreographers demonstrating the creativity and technique that emerge in mastering the art of dance.

For this years winterWORKS I'm very interested in creating a collaboration between all of those who are involved in order to make something together. We'll be starting from zero. The performance of the work will be to share what we've made with others. The value system of the dance moves away from a display of what we can do and more of a sharing of how we can be. I am inviting any level of experience to participate- there might be highly experienced dancers who have taken years of dance classes and highly experienced dancers who have never walked into a dance studio, all making and performing together. This is important to me because it's a direct reflection of the kind of diverse world I want to live in- different kinds of people, with different experiences, working and making together.

The movement material will be generated by moving away from our choreographed bodies as well as honoring the specific skills we have learned. We are choreographed in many ways- by performing ourselves in the world, training in dance classes, gender, cultural identities, etc.
