Barrel-Aged Grappa Tasting
In my experience, most grappa in the United States is unaged, but aging in various barrels is very common in Italy, and makes for a much more complex and interesting spirit.
I've brought back some grappa from a recent trip to Italy that includes several interesting barrel finishes like Sauternes casks, Port casks, rum casks, and various other wine casks. If you like whiskey, it will be interesting to try wood-finished grappa!
This is a small tasting...I only have enough for 9 people to try all of the samples. We'll start with some unaged grappas, then try a selection of barrel-finished.
Although the first few grappas I tried years back all reminded me of kerosene, these are the real deal, very diverse, and are worthy of your curiosity!
