These fiction writing classes are for anyone who ever woke up with an intriguing dream and wanted to make sense of it, especially those incomplete dreams that end with, "and then I woke up." You will learn basic dream theory, the six elements of a strong fiction story, how to craft an ending to a dream story using active imagination and the elements of good editing. *These classes take place over three consecutive Saturdays.*
About the Instructor: Velva Lee Heraty began her professional writing career as a photojournalist in Chicago, IL. As a columnist for Chicago Woman Newspaper she wrote about advanced communication skill building. After her career change writing research and dream theory white papers were the norm. In St. Pete Creative Loafing christened Velva "Dream Momma" where she blogged on dreams for three years.
Last year Velva published her first book, "The Dream Belongs to the Dreamer", a guide to understanding your dreams. She has a Masters in Social Work (MSW) from Loyola University Chicago, a Certification as a Jungian depth-psychotherapist from the C. G. Jung Institute in Evanston, IL, and is well on her way towards an MFA in Fiction Writing. Velva lives in St. Petersburg, Florida.
*THIS SERIES IS ONE-TIME REGISTRATION ONLY, I.E. OF YOU REGISTER FOR THE CLASS YOU ARE REGISTERED FOR ALL THREE SESSIONS. (Only the starting date October 17 will appear when you register.) Please don't register if you cannot make all three sessions (we know stuff happens but expect you to do your best to attend all sessions).
