The Clearing
The Clearing tells the story of two brothers who climb to a clearing at the top of a gorge a place to tell stories, to escape their disconnected mother, and to honor a buried secret from their childhood that the family is trying to reckon with nearly two decades later. The sanctity of the clearing is challenged when a new lover enters their lives.
Paula Vogel, Pulitzer Prize winning playwright and chair of Yale's playwriting department says, "The Clearing shows all the characteristics of a Jake Jeppson play: complex human beings with a desire and inability to connect, and from his eloquent heart, the author's own empathic urgency to connect to us all." The play is not appropriate for audiences under 17 years of age.
