"REEL JERSEY GIRLS: CENTENNIAL OF ALICE GUY BLACHE'S SOLAX STUDIO ONE HUNDRED YEARS OF WOMEN FILMMAKERS"
Brought to us by our friends at The Fort Lee Film Commission, this panel will discuss the history of women filmmakers in New Jersey going back as far as 1912 when the first woman director in cinema history, Alice Guy Blache, built and opened her Solax Studio in Fort Lee, NJ. Here, before women had the right to vote in America, Madame Blache wrote, directed and produced hundreds of films through World War I. As part of this symposium we will screen a short Alice Guy Blache film, Algie the Miner (1912) and discuss the present state of women in the American Film Industry. Panelists: Christina Kotlar (Moderator) Nancy O'Mallon Beth Rosen filmmaker, best selling author, screenwriter, actress and film producer
