The World Affairs Council presents Bo Kyi, Joint Secretary of the Assistance Association of Political Prisoners (AAPP) Burma. Attendees will watch a a brief excerpt from the new film from "Into the Current," a powerful new documentary about the crucial role of political prisoners in Burma's democracy movement. After the film, Bo Kyi will offer insights into the role of political prisoners in the Burmese quest to replace military dictatorship with a modern democracy, persistent human rights issues that must be addressed, and the reactions of the people of Burma to the government's recent steps toward democratic reform.
