Sustainable foods in Public Schools: This is what Brunswick native Adam Williams is working hard to accomplish at FoodCycle. Adam and the team at FoodCycle believe that a healthier diet, sourced from seasonal small-scale producers has the power to change the way we think about school lunches and how our children think about food. Their aim is to raise money in support of collaborations between local farms and schools by pioneering a self-supported bicycle ride across the United States in the spring of 2012.
Cycling approximately 4,500 miles from Maine to California riders will document the emergent farm-to-school movement across the US, highlighting how these initiatives are impacting students, farmers, the environment and local economies.
Help us to fund a year's worth of sustainable nutrition, locally, for our 2012-13 Pilot School: Harriet Beecher Stowe Elementary. Please join us Thursday March 15th, 2012 from 6-9pm for an evening of art, music, education and a featured menu sourced from locally grown foods!
* A percentage of all proceeds from the evening will benefit FoodCycle. For more information visit us online at www.foodcycleus.com.
