"In His Grip"
Choreographer: Rebekka Nodhturft Dancers: Madeline Charles and Miguel Solano
"In His Grip" is a dark, dynamic duet about power and control in the context of romantic relationships. Showing some moments of tenderness and passion, it also exposes moments of fear, anger, violence, and sexual abuse.
Women all over the world are often victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse, and the abuser is often someone they know. Many do not feel comfortable or safe admitting or discussing it. I hope this piece will help audience members be more sensitive to those around them, seek help if they need it, and communicate more openly about this widespread problem.
NOTE: This performance includes three shows: "Sonata," "In His Grip," and "Now Pinch Hitting for Joe Dimaggio"

Emerging Artists returns with their one-of-a-kind festival. Visit the theater any evening during this three-week event, and you'll find yourself transported in a number of surprising ways: by a single performer embodying a whole host of characters; by a more experimental theater piece "done differently" that challenges and delights; by a cozy two-person show exploring relationships; or perhaps by a bouncy new musical that will have you humming. Emerging Artists has always been about new works, new talents, new voices. That's never been more evident than now.
