AN AFTERNOON TASTING WITH ENLIGHTENMENT WINES
NEW AMSTERDAM MARKET PRESENTS AN AFTERNOON TASTING WITH ENLIGHTENMENT WINES
SUNDAY, MARCH 4, 2012 4PM - 6PM AT THE THOMPSON WAREHOUSE 213-215 WATER STREET IN LOWER MANHATTAN
TICKETS $10
Join us for an intimate afternoon with Enlightenment founder and winemaker Raphael Lyon as we learn about his extremely limited productions (100 to 1,000 bottle runs) and taste some of the herbal infused unfiltered dry cherry, apple, dandelion and honey wines coming out of New York State's smallest winery. Lyon will talk about his philosophy of rigorous experimentation in the face of traditional winemakers "genre-attitude," the ancestral relationship between magic, herbal medicine and alcohol, and the reasons behind his all natural "no pumps, no filters, no sulfites, no messing around" approach.
Enlightenment Wines is a locally-sourced subscription based winery. and the first in the country to identify itself as a "CSA" (Community Supported Alcohol). Delivering its unusual and affordable fruit wines and meads directly to its members, Enlightenment Wines typically releases very little to a retail market outside its subscription base. The CSA is opening up spaces for new members and is taking this opportunity to share some of its unique bottles with a new audience.
Space is extremely limited for the both the tasting and the CSA.
