Chia-Hua Huang Piano Recital
Chia-Hua (Doris) Huang hails from Tainan, Taiwan, and began her piano studies at the age of four. Chia-Hua is currently a doctoral student at the University of Northern Colorado with her primary emphasis in piano performance and secondary emphasis in harpsichord. Chia-Hua holds a Master of Arts degree from the University of National Sun Yat-Sen and a Bachelor of Music degree from the National Pingtung University of Education. Chia-Hua has been selected as top prize winner of numerous piano competitions in Taiwan, including the Taiwan National Piano Competition in 1995, 1996 and 1997. She was also first place winner of the Taiwan National Adult Piano Competition in 1998 and first place winner of the piano concerto competition of National Sun Yat-Sen University. In the fall of 2010, she won the Rocky Mountain Competition with Shostakovich's Piano Concerto No. 2. Throughout her studies, she has received several scholarships from the Kawai, Yamaha, and Panasonic foundations. In recent years, Chia-Hua has enjoyed performing as soloist and accompanist, collaborating in student recitals and with the UNC opera program. She currently studies with Dr. Caleb Harris.
