Grandpa Banana's Band Album Release Party for Even Grandpas Get the Blues
A fun record release party with Grandpa Banana (of gold record winning band Youngbloods) on vocals and 5 string tenor, David Thom on mandolin & vocals and Sam Page on Bass & Vocals at the San Geronimo Valley Community Center.
The new album will feature artists including Ry Cooder, Terry Haggerty, Steve Kimmock, Bobby Vega, Barry Melton, Thomas Ford & Michael Barclay.
In 1965, Banana formed The Youngbloods with Joe Bauer, Jesse Colin Young, and Jerry Corbitt. Combining Jesse's vocals with Banana's innovations (Wurlitzer electric piano, for one), the band attained national fame by 1967 and legendary status in 1969 when "Get Together" became the anthem of a generation. Success followed as they became a trio and recorded their landmark album Elephant Mountain.
Banana was accompanist to Mimi Farina for over twenty years, played keyboards and sang lead with Zero for over 10 years, and has also played with Norton Buffalo, Dan Hicks and his Hot Licks, The Barry "The Fish" Melton band, The Papermill Creek Rounders, David, Tracy and Sam Grisman, The David Thom Band, Peter Rowan and the legendary Artie Rose and associates.
Partial proceeds support the San Geronimo Valley Community Center food bank, youth center, senior lunch and other services.
To secure the advance ticket price you must purchase tickets 13 hours ahead of the show online or at the SGVCC.
