Join us for an evening of sushi prepared by some of the region's most talented chefs, premium sake, and Japanese beer.
The Sushi & Sake Fest is an annual fundraiser for Densho, a Seattle-based community history organization that uses digital technology to preserve the testimonies of Japanese Americans who were unjustly incarcerated during World War II.
The proceeds from the event support:
A digital encyclopedia (encyclopedia.densho.org) with more than 1,000 multimedia articles about Japanese American history.
An education program (www.densho.org/learning-center) that includes a new online course that helps educators can teach WWII incarceration history with primary sources.
A vast digital repository (ddr.densho.org) of photographs and documents, collected from individuals and organizations across the country.
An interview program (archive.densho.org) that documents the lived experiences of Japanese Americans.
Community outreach (www.densho.org/blog)that keeps the story of incarceration alive, with the aim of preventing it from being repeated.
Note: Please provide us with attendee's name(s) for the guest registration list when purchasing ticket(s). Tickets are transferable but not refundable. You may also send guest names or name changes to Densho at sushisake@densho.org.
