Pacific Northwet Let's Grow Lamb and Wool Symposium
Washington State University Extension and Washington State Sheep Producers with the assistance of the American Sheep Industry "Let's Grow" program are proud to present a special one day symposium in conjunction with the WSSP Annual Convention. The Pacific Northwest Let's Grow Lamb and Wool Symposium will contain topics to help producers increase the productivity of their flocks and enable producers to share ideas and concepts which will improve the production and quality of sheep products in today's competitive market.
The morning session will focus on reproduction efficiency in the Pacific Northwest with a heavy emphasis on strategies for genetic improvement; such as, use of National Sheep Improvement program, artificial insemination, embryo transfer. A presentation on lamb products, showcasing different and new cuts from the lamb carcass will take place during the luncheon. The afternoon session will cover sheep nutrition and management strategies to increase production and quality through nutrition. The symposium will conclude with a round table discussion on ways to implement these concepts in practice regardless of flock size or marketing plan.
