BOND: A Soldier & His Dog at Bridge Street Theatre
Coming to Bridge Street Theatre, November 6  15, the weekends before and after Veterans Day. Written and performed by Logan Black, BOND is based on Black's experiences as Specialized Search Dog Handler and the year he spent in the Al Anbar province of Iraq with Diego, the yellow Labrador retriever who served beside him. The show played to sold-out audiences at the Kansas City Fringe Festival, and we have the privilege of bringing this special story to Catskill for its East Coast premier.

"As a dog lover with two giant fur babies, I may have already been predisposed to enjoy a play with a canine central character. Logan Black goes much deeper though as he mines the depths of human-animal connection in his shockingly well-written and performed debut play Bond: A Soldier and His Dogmore so than its kin pieces like Old Yeller, Where the Red Fern Grows, White Fang, Shiloh, Marley and Me, and Incredible Journey. It's a mature coming-to-terms tale about love and understanding set amid the horrors of war and a questionable existence of homelife."  Lee Hartman, KC Metropolis

"To call it an affecting story is an understatement. Black describes his training with Diego and gives examples of Diego's keen intelligence. He offers an account of their tours of duty in war zones, harrowing near-death experiences and the moral consequences of war, in which innocents can sometimes be mistaken for bad guys.  It's also a story of healing. The war took a toll on both Black and his dog, and both reacted in different ways. But together, he suggests, they've been able to address lingering invisible wounds  The fact that Diego made a personal appearance at the end of each performance was enough to melt any animal-lover's heart."   Robert Trussell, Kansas City Star

BOND runs a little over an hour. The material is suitable for children 12 and older.
