A secret love story unfolds between the communist Harry Hay and the Viennese refugee and designer
Rudi Gernreich. Against a backdrop of intolerance at the height of McCarthyism, they are part of a
brotherhood caught between who they are and who they appear to be. The Temperamentals, so named
for the code gay men used to refer to themselves, reveals the courageous men of the Mattachine Society,
the first viable gay rights movement in the United States.

Philly's "Best Gay Theatre Company" (Philadelphia Weekly) presents the Philadelphia premiere of this
moving drama, nominated by the Outer Critics Circle for the John Gassner Award for Playwriting and
Outstanding Off-Broadway Play in 2009-2010, and winner of a 2012 Stonewall Book Award. Written by
Jon Marans, finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama (Old Wicked Songs), the cast features Mike Dees,
Carl Granieri, Doug Greene, John Jarboe as Rudi Gernreich and Matt Tallman as Harry Hay.
