National Khmer Symposium - Healing and Unity
The City of Lowell is proud to announce the hosting of its first National Khmer Symposium. The two day event will begin on Friday, October 23rd from 5:00 pm 10:00 pm at the Elks Lodge on 40 Old Ferry Road, Lowell, MA and involve cultural, spiritual, and health programs unique to its Khmer community. The full day, Saturday, October 24th event will run from 8:00 am 4:00 pm. The symposium is co-chaired by Mayor Rodney Elliott, City Manager Kevin Murphy, and State Representative Rady Mom.
The City of Lowell will join the Lowell Sun and several other community partners in offering this symposium. Other partnering organizations include: UMass Lowell, Middlesex Community College, Coalition for a Better Acre, Cambodian Mutual Assistance Association, Glory Buddhist Temple, MA Asian American Commission, Angkor Dance Troupe, National Park Service, City of Lynn, and Khmer Hoops for Hope.
Honorary Co-chairs include: Congresswoman Niki Tsongas, State Senator Eileen Donoghue, State Representatives Thomas Golden and David Nangle, The Lowell City Council, Lynn Mayor Judith Kennedy, and Lynn City Councilor Hong Net.
