Arts Gumbo 2015 - Coast Salish Canoe Tribes
Arts Gumbo kicks off at 6pm downstairs in the event room. Native visual artists John Romero, Jessie Cook, Anna Haala and Willard Hilaire display traditional blankets, beadwork and regalia and mixed media paintings. Several relief style canoe paddles will be displayed. Chef Bear Alexander will demonstrate cooking a Coastal salmon dinner and provide samples.
At 7, audiences will move to the auditorium for the performances. Native comedian Danny Littlejohn, Ho-'chunk Nation, will be the evening's host and MC. After his comedy routine, the 7Generation Youth Dancers will sing, drum and dance in full regalia. After the performances, audience members can participate in an informal, fun dance workshop for all ages and all levels.
