Chèvre Making at The Cheese Board
Ever wondered how cheese is made? And whats with that gray stuff often coating the outside of my goat cheese?
Come learn about, and experience, the cheese making process for yourself. Join The Cheese Board and The San Francisco Milk Maid for a hands-on cheesemaking class on Wednesday, October 14th, from 7:30:-9:30. We will begin with fresh milk, move onto cultures, rennet, ripening molds and more. All participants end class with a personal cheese form packed with fresh, draining curds. A few more hours of draining and your very own just-made cheese will be ready to eat! Class will also cover the basics of how to make a more-aged version, how to season with herbs and how to make leaf-wrapped varieties.
Class will be lead by The San Francisco Milk Maid, author of the just-published book on home cheesemaking, Kitchen Creamery. Ticket price includes instruction, tasting, snacks and take-home cheese. Books will be available for sale and signing. We hope to see you at our "goat-sravaganza!"
