Dancing with the Stars, Oxford Style!
The pop culture phenomenon that brought ballroom dancing to living rooms across America is coming to Oxford in a star-studded spectacular event. Dancing with the Stars, Oxford Style! will be Tuesday, November 17th at 6:00pm at Oxford Community Arts Center. Tickets are $15 and include dinner. Brought to you by the Oxford Seniors/Miami University Affiliation in collaboration with Oxford Community Art Center (OCAC), this extraordinary evening will begin with dinner served in the beautiful OCAC ballroom and parlor, followed by show-stopping performances by your favorite community dancers.
Produced by renowned Ballroom Dance Instructor, Michael Scoggins, this dance event features local community and Miami student "stars." The performance will include a filmed introduction to our dancers and an entertaining look back at their fun and awkward moments during training and rehearsals over the last several months.
Trading in his stethoscope for dance shoes, Dr. Nathan Morris and his wife Annie Morris will perform the Waltz. The Cha Cha will be performed by Hanna Ridge and Ethan Lawless, the Tango by Chris Carter & Cori Mobley, Leah & Jered Wasburn-Moses will perform the Foxtrot, Dave and Theresa Abrams the Rumba, and Remy Willocks will perform the Swing with his partner Kendra Stevenson.
The audience is invited to participate in the scoring of the dances alongside judges Mel Edwards, Jerry Schindler and a surprise celebrity judge. After the competition, the floor will open to the audience for an evening of dancing.
Designed specifically for this event by Kroger's Bistro Chef Marshall Burke, the dinner menu will feature Ratatouille, Quinoa-Mushroom Pilaf, Rotisserie Pork Loin, and a Grilled Chicken Breast with Roasted Corn Sauce. The Oxford Seniors/Miami University Affiliation exists to broaden connections among Oxford Seniors, Miami University, and the community, and to develop cross-generational and cross-institutional ideas, goodwill and programs for the benefit of all Oxford community members. "Their mission combines beautifully with OCAC's community building arts focus," said OCAC's executive director, Caroline Croswell. "This event welcomes the entire Oxford community, including Miami University students."
