Gene Parsons and David Hayes
Gene Parsons and David Hayes will bring their masterful musical skills to Humboldt County's newest venue: The Old Steeple.
Gene Parsons is best known for his time with Los Angeles based band The Byrds and for inventing the StringBender with Clarence White. His musicianship spans from drums to guitar, but this concert will feature his phenomenal banjo picking. Parsons was also a member of Nashville West and The Flying Burrito Brothers and has released several solo albums.
David Hayes is an acclaimed bassist, guitarist, producer, singer and songwriter and veteran of nearly 5,000 stage performances. He is best known internationally for his work with Van Morrison beginning in 1972. David has accompanied Morrison in more concerts than any of Van's other stage musicians. Through his over 5 decades of playing, David has had the honor of performing and/or recording with greats like: Ray Charles, Tom Waits, Bobby "Blue" Bland, John Lee Hooker, Solomon Burke, Peter Rowan and the Rowan Brothers, Graham Parker, Iain Matthews, Terry and the Pirates, Country Joe McDonald, and many many more.
The Old Steeple, located in the Victorian Village of Ferndale, is housed in a beautiful church that was originally built in the 1880s. The venue features magnificent stained glass windows, old growth redwood construction, a huge tin ceiling, and holds roughly 220 music lovers in comfy seating.
Do not miss this historic first concert at The Old Steeple.
