Eye on Artist: Steven Maslach
Join us for a talk by artist Steven Maslach on influences that inspire his work, his methods and materials, and new directions he is heading with his artistic practice. Reception with light food and drink will follow in the Lovelace Gallery.
Bainbridge Island sculptor Steven Maslach has worked in glass for 36 years, primarily as a glassblower. More recently he has pursued the exploration of sculptural direct casting techniques that allow him to work on a large scale created to exacting quality.
"I am drawn to forms that exist as a result of purpose. The human body, the vessel and the boat take shape from the result of use, of efficiency, and of grace I intend to make art that contains life, conveys purpose, requires the uniqueness of glass and is of human scale- large enough to provoke a visceral response."
