Broken Up
The Place: The State of Marriage The People: Meg, the Ex, the Wanna Be, and the Blind Date
Comedy is serious business and the laughs are non-stop when the Jewel Box presents Nick Hall's fast moving comedy, "Broken Up." The play is being directed by Eric Wise.
Reminiscent of a Neil Simon comedy, "Broken Up" is a laughable look at the uncertainty one faces following a divorce. Meg Owens is in the middle of moving into her new apartment and out of her old marriage. All she has to do is have Tom, her husband, sign the final papers and then she can start her new life. However, signing the final papers becomes increasingly difficult, and her new life, represented by an amorous landlord and a fast talking divorce expert, is already under way. This slap-stick farce proves that, if marriage is hell, divorce is hilarious.
Nick Hall is an American playwright whose stage works include "Accommodations," "Dead Wrong," and "Marriage is Murder."
The cast is, in order of appearance; Ashley Hurd as Gordon, Timothy Heins as Tom, Diana George as Meg, and Charlie Birdsell as Roger. The show is directed by Eric Wise. Eric has directed at Bremerton Community Theatre, Performing Arts Guild of South Kitsap, and ART. Eric appeared onstage at the Jewel Box in "Off The Map" and "Love Letters."
