ARROYO'S EDGE GREENE & GREENE INTERIORS 2012
ARROYO'S EDGE * GREENE & GREENE INTERIORS 2012 A rare opportunity to tour six Greene & Greene-designed properties
Sunday, April 22, 2012 * 12 Noon to 5:00 pm Historic Park Place Neighborhood, Pasadena, CA $75 FoGH members * $85 non-members * $50 children 12 and under (see ticketing instructions below)
On Sunday, April 22, five G&G interiors and a beautiful garden will open for touring to benefit The Gamble House. These sites, along the edge of Pasadena's Arroyo Seco, have rarely, if ever, been open for public touring. Thanks to the generosity of the homeowners, participants will have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see five Greene & Greene interiors, and a beautiful garden, that remain largely unknown even to devotees of the Arts and Crafts movement. Included on the interiors tour will be the incomparable Duncan-Irwin house, featured on the cover of the recently released book by Bruce Smith and Alex Vertikoff, Greene & Greene: Developing a California Architecture (Gibbs Smith Publisher, 2011). The Mary Ranney, F. W. Hawks, Van-Rossem Neil, and S. Hazard Halsted houses will also be featured, as well as the beautiful garden of the James Culbertson house, which affords close viewing of two of the Greenes' earliest garage structures.
************************************** DAY OF TOUR DETAILS: Free Parking, Will Call tickets, Day-Of tickets, and Tour Booklets for Arroyo's Edge will be at the Avery-Dennison parking lot entrance on West Walnut Avenue, 200 yards east of North Orange Grove Blvd.
