Volunteer Farm Chores Day at Catskill Animal Sanctuary: New York City Bus
Spend a day in the country doing farm chores in the sunshine and fresh air at Catskill Animal Sanctuary (CAS), the Hudson Valley's beloved haven for horses and farm animals rescued from cruelty and neglect.
As we prepare to open for the season in April, projects may include painting, repairing fences, digging drainage ditches, light demolition, clearing pastures, and landscaping. You should be physically fit, wear heavy duty work clothes and boots, bring work gloves (if you have them), and bring plenty of water and snacks.
A hearty vegan lunch will be served, followed by a tour to meet the animals with CAS Founder/Director Kathy Stevens.
On Saturday, March 24, the NYC Charter Bus will depart at 7.30am SHARP from 20 East 9th Street (corner of University Place) in downtown Manhattan. We should arrive at CAS by 9.30am, and will depart CAS at approximately 6.00pm, making one drop-off back at 20 East 9th Street at about 8.00pm. The pick-up/drop-off location is easy walking distance from the following subway stops: West 4th Street (A, B, C, D, E, F, M); 8th Street/NYU (N, R); Astor Place (6); and 14th Street/Union Square (L, N, Q, R, 4, 5, 6); Christopher St/Sheridan Square (1).
Please allow for enough travel time, as the bus will leave at EXACTLY 7.30am.
Please PURCHASE YOUR SEAT(S) IN ADVANCE as seating is limited, and only those folks who have pre-purchased seats can board the bus on Saturday morning.
Feel free to contact Michelle Alvarez, CAS Outreach Director, for more information at michelle@casanctuary.org or 917-414-9428. www.CASanctuary.org.
NOTE: The work day will take place rain or shine.
Thank you for all that you do for our animal friends everywhere, and we look forward to a fun road trip and day in the country!
