Program Description: Different project types inherently carry differing levels of risk, based on complexity, client type/experience and the legal landscape of the project location. While Beacon Residential Community Association v. Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, LLP is a condominium case, it has farther-reaching implications and underscores the need for effective and consistently applied risk management approaches in daily practice. In this session, we'll explore the lessons learned from the Beacon case, offer strategies to mitigate risk, and give you the opportunity to "ask the experts."
Learning Objectives: Through this interactive program, participants will:
1. Recognize the comparative risk of project types including condominium and other residential
2. Examine the Beacon v SOM case and decision
3. Understand the impact of this case on architectural practice in California
4. Be able to incorporate best practices in project selection and implementation
