Leatrice Joy functions as the heart and soul of this 1926 silent film - one of the first produced by Cecil B. DeMille in his own studio!though she would slip from the limelight when talking pictures began to take over Hollywood. Her performance in Eve's Leaves as the young and rebellious daughter of a ship captain sparkles in its drama - Eve, raised to conceal her gender, finds her first love in China - and its hilarity, when Eve and her new beloved are captured by a local pirate. Joy showcases all the thrills and nuances of silent acting in this adventure, with a little help from DeMille's lively production.
