Celebrate Skagit ~ Dinner on the Farm April 14
Skagit Valley is noted for some of the best farmland in the world. Come and enjoy "Celebrate Skagit ~ Dinner on the Farm" to taste and see for yourself the bounty we have to offer.
Join us Saturday, April 14 and enjoy a unique dining experience, featuring fresh, seasonal foods prepared by guest chefs. This elegant dining experience may take place in a rustic setting like a barn, in the middle of a field, or in a farmyard. (The next Dinner on the Farm is planned for Saturday, July 21, 2012.) Experience the agricultural lifestyle and learn about farms, farmers and the importance of preserving Skagit Valley farmland while enjoying a fabulous meal.
Location: The April 14 Dinner on the Farm will take place in a registered Washington state Heritage Barn, built in 1927. Enjoy cocktails, appetizers and a four-course dinner in the barn, which will open up onto tulip fields. We are grateful to Sam and Diane Hill for donating their barn for our first event!
Chef: We are pleased to announce that Michael Miller, Head Chef at the Train Wreck Bar and Grill in Burlington, Washington, will be our guest chef. After graduating from a culinary program in Seattle, Michael worked at several restaurants noted for preparing locally grown and sustainable products. With over 20 years of restaurant experience, Michael looks forward to creating a field to plate meal with flavors of the Skagit Valley that promise to tantalize your taste buds.
Libations: Thank you to Skip Rock Distillers, producers of vodka made with Skagit Yukon Gold potatoes, who will be creating a signature cocktail for guests, and to Hellam's Vineyard in La Conner, who will be pairing Washington wines with the dinner. Non-alcoholic beverages will also be served.
Seating limited to 50 guests at each dinner. $100 per person. (Tickets are non-refundable, but are transferable.)
Please plan to dress for all weather conditions and terrain. Galoshes, jeans, and jackets are recommended. Dinners will take place rain or shine. Some areas of the farm may not be handicap accessible. Due to the seasonal nature of our menu, special dietary needs may not be accommodated.
Proceeds will support the work of Skagitonians to Preserve Farmland, a grassroots nonprofit organization founded in 1989 to ensure the continued viability of Skagit agriculture through farmland protection, advocacy, research, education and public awareness.
