The Schuylkill River: Past and Present
Join us for a night of history and discussions of current open space plans along the Schuylkill River.
Once "the Hidden River", the Schuylkill is now enjoying a renaissance as the premier recreational highlight of the Philadelphia area.
Kurt Zwikl, Executive Director of the Schuylkill River Heritage Area, will introduce "Our National Heritage Episode One: The Revolutionary River," a 47-minute film produced for public television by Telemark Films, on behalf of the Schuylkill River National and State Heritage Area, in partnership with the William Penn Foundation, the National Park Service, and the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.
Afterwards, Kurt will be joined by Kay Sykora, head of The Schuylkill Project, to give us some updates on the Manayunk Bridge and other projects, Bob Thomas of the Complete the Schuylkill River Trail Coalition, and Jerry Francis of the Lower Merion Historical Society to discuss developments along the Lower Merion side.
Refreshments will be served. Proceeds from the event benefit the Cynwyd Station Revitalization and the Schuylkill River Greenway Association.
