Seven Points for Love & Voices in the Dark
Fury Theater Company is proud to present these two internationally produced one acts from Writer/Director Ellen Cribbs.
Seven Points for 'Love'
All's fair in love and Scrabble? This funny and touching love story employs the classic game of Scrabble in a way it's never been used before. Comedic and lighthearted, this show looks at how complicated certain words can become when love comes into the picture. Seven Points for 'Love' explores the utter panic and pressure involved in forming the perfect proposal. As Kevin attempts to think of a brilliant, original plan to ask Jenny for her hand in marriage, he is stuck in the middle of a Scrabble game with his competitive girlfriend and her nosey teenage sister. Kevin must keep his calm and play his letters right in hopes of discovering the right words to win Jenny's heart.
Reviews from Edinburgh:
"A delight from start to all-too-soon finish. There are probably scores of professors in America immersed in Cute Studies 101 who give learned papers at symposia dedicated to discovery a new vocabulary for this level of adorableness." - EdinburghGuide.com
"A 7 star triple word scoring show. I highly reccommend for anyone who enjoys comedies like "Friends" to see this show." - Calum Fleming, Scotland
"Board game scrabble gets an injection of cool in this endearing play. No longer will people think of it as a competition of who knows the longest word, but rather as an ingenious way to propose to your girlfriend. This is a short, sweet injection of feel good vibes with a happy ending that will leave you feeling all warm and fuzzy for the rest of the day. And will probably make you all want to rush out and get engaged." - 3 Weeks Review
"It is fluff, but it is well done fluff." - Reviewer Sean Davis
Voices in the Dark
What separates one love story from another? This engaging and thought-provoking play examines and questions the universal emotions that connect all humans. Should the limitations of socially accepted behavior restrict the pursuit of ultimate happiness and love? Is one story more justifiable than another if both are based on the same desire? Voices in the Dark explores a pivotal night in the lives of two extremely different couples whose needs and dreams are unnervingly similar. The characters are forced to overcome their fears and doubts while facing the consequences of their quest for happiness in this gripping love story.
Reviews from Edinburgh:
"Beautifully written and hearbreakingly sad, I would expect to hear much more from both writer and actors in the future." - http://20six.co.uk/floatykatja/cat/34386/0 "Combine Romeo & Juliet with Of Mice and Men and you should get Voices in the Dark. These star-crossed southerners sharing dreams in a barn pack a credible punch." 3 Weeks Review
