Pinecrest- Subscription to Orchestra Miami's Family Fun Concert Series
Orchestra Miami is proud to present its NEW Family Fun Concert Series! This 5 concert series has something for everyone. Subscribers receive benefits such as priority seating and study guides/program notes emailed in advance. Cookies and juice served at all the concerts! Subscription prices for the 5 concerts are $60 for Adults, $45 for children (ages 3- 17) and Family Subscriptions (2 adults + 2 Children) are $195- a savings of 22% off the single ticket price.
Program I: Peter and the Werewolf Sunday, Nov. 1, 2015 - 4:00 PM: Pinecrest Gardens, 11000 SW 57 Avenue, Pinecrest, 33156 Prokofiev's classic tale of Peter, told with a unique Halloween "twist"! Orchestra Miami conducted by Elaine Rinaldi, performs with special guest narrator, "The Necromancer" (a.k.a. Neil Tobin), who illustrates this unique story with magic and special effects. Come in costume for the Halloween parade!
Program II: The Story of Babar the Elephant Sunday, Feb 7, 2016- 2:00 PM: Pinecrest Gardens, 11000 SW 57 Avenue, Pinecrest, 33156 The beloved story of Babar the Elephant told in English and Spanish and illustrated with gorgeous music by French composer Francis Poulenc, performed by Orchestra Miami, conducted by Elaine Rinaldi.
Program III: Coppélia for Kids Sunday, March 20, 2016 - 4:00 PM: Pinecrest Gardens, 11000 SW 57 Avenue, Pinecrest, 33156 The Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida and musicians from Orchestra Miami present a mini-version of the comic ballet Coppélia, set to music by French composer Leo Delibes. The story of the inventor Dr. Coppelius, who makes a dancing doll so lifelike that a young village lad falls in love with her, is told by a narrator in both English and Spanish.
Program IV: Witches, Wizards, Spells & Elves: The Magic of Shakespeare Sun, April 24- 4:00 PM: Pinecrest Gardens, 11000 SW 57 Avenue, Pinecrest, 33156 Seven actors from Shakespeare Miami join 14 musicians from Orchestra Miami to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the Bard's death in this witty and wonderful piece, with music by Bruce Adolphe and words by Shakespeare . Directed by Colleen Stovall and conducted by Elaine Rinaldi. Experience the magic and sorcery in Shakespeare's plays with a wicked depiction of a witch's bubbling cauldron, a puckish clarinet that slips and slides with quicksilver virtuosity, and the magical, dizzying dance of four fantastic fairies!
Program V: Brundibár, an opera by Hans Krása Sun, May 15- 4 PM @ Pinecrest Gardens, 11000 SW 57 Avenue, Pinecrest, 33156 Orchestra Miami presents a very special performance of a very special opera- Brundibár a children's opera that premiered during World War II, became both a symbol of hope and resistance and a Nazi propaganda tool. It was performed 55 times in the Theresienstadt concentration camp, and used as propaganda by the Nazis to show how well the prisoners were being treated in the camp. A classic story of good versus evil, this beautiful piece is a symbol of hope and the triumph of the human spirit.
